Stylistic queries and comparisons of the past present and future, because if life were a classroom, I would always have my hand up.

KARL KEEPS IT KOMING: After the media explosion that was Karl Lagerfeld’s diffusion line settled to a low roar, and die-hard Karl fans refocused their interests on exquisite Fall and Resort Chanel collections, our Creative Director extraordinaire pulled one more sartorial concoction out of his contemporary bag of tricks. In collaboration with East-London based design house, I Love Dust, Sir Lagerfeld debuted four limited edition t-shirts featuring what else? Himself. I had the pleasure of attending the Bleecker Street launch, where t-shirts with tromp l’oeil prints of his namesake jacket and tie combo, or fingerless leather glove, were up-styled with sequins and leather. These cotton tees are offered at a much lower price point than his other contemporary pieces because well, they are cotton tees ($95.00 at karl.com with shirts running true to size.)

While the Karl contemporary line quite obviously serves as an accurate reflection of his personal style, it’s also apparent that his clothing is probably best worn ironically or paired down, as opposed to the store fronts’ up-styled merchandising. Take a peak for some shots from the night, but perhaps the highlight for me was a sighting of personal blog favorite, Natalie Joos.
